Hello and welcome to the summer edition of Woodsetts Quarry Pond news page! It’s been a hectic year with many, many captures of carp by the full members and day ticket anglers that fish the lake. Most of the carp that were stocked back in 2012/2013 have really progressed in weight and carp that were stocked at 6 and 7lb are now being caught at 18lb plus!!! The carp syndicate is full for 2016 and places will not be available again until May 2017 (ticket starting June 1st 2017). In order to obtain a place you will need to submit the application form that can be found elsewhere on this website. All applications are subject to a waiting list and depend on anglers dropping out from the previous year! Carp day ticket fishing is still available and tickets can be purchased on the bank from patrolling bailiffs. Please ensure you have a large unhooking mat and 42in landing net and that all rigs are safe, the lead must be able to drop off… we also insist on 15lb mainline, the lake is weedy in the summer and autumn!

On the general coarse fishing front there are plenty of tench to be caught and the roach fishing has got better and better, with 20lb nets of silver fish not uncommon. Bream to 10lb have also been caught this year (a lot by carp anglers), and feeder fishing in the deeper water should get you a few bites. We have noticed a big increase in pike weights (pike fishing only from October 1st until end of March), this is due to the growth rates of the silver fish population as they have prospered from the additional carp food that has gone into the lake!

This winter will see the introduction of the Carp Winter Ticket (allowing non syndicate members to fish at night from October 1st until the end of March), details are to be found on this website on the application page, along with permit prices. For further information on day tickets, season permits or the lake in general please contact the fishery manager Martin Ford on 07769 212762.

To all readers of the news page and indeed visitors to the website and lake, thank you for looking and thank you for your support. Have a great summer.
