As we slowly come out of lockdown it’s nice to see anglers out on the bank again and although the carp have had a long winter rest, with little or no angling pressure, the weight gains have been significant and several high 20lb plus carp have been caught over the last month!
Along with some stunning mirrors and commons that have graced the banks in recent weeks, the lake has also produced a mirror at 32lb, a stock fish introduced back in 2019 that has shown extremely healthy weight gains. Usual boilie over a small bed of bait has been the best tactic at this time of year as the carp are still waking up.
I’m sure we will see a few more surprises this year as there are a few of the 2019 stocking that haven’t been caught yet and with the exception of two commons that already reside in the lake, it’s possible we will have another 30lb common grace the bank in the not-to-distant future!
It seems every fishery is going to be busy this year, especially with people not travelling abroad for holidays and Woodsetts is no exception. Currently we have a waiting list for any spare syndicate tickets this June. As it stands we won’t have any available night tickets until the Winter Syndicate starts in October. There will be day only carp tickets and day tickets, which are bookable in advance by phone the day before you wish to fish. If you’re interested in the Winter Syndicate starting October, our advice is to get your application form filled out and sent in before all places are taken.
