Welcome to the April update for Woodsetts Quarry Pond, and what a month it’s been! There have been several carp caught from different areas of the lake this last few weeks and in particular some of the original stock have started to show up on the un-hooking matts!

Full member Steve Wilkinson has been on top form with nine captures from three sessions, including a four fish hit in less than 24hrs. Steve’s best fish was the Pale Mirror at a smidge under 25lb!!! He also banked the Paw Print Mirror and a touch over 20lb and has had several stockies to 17lb to add to his tally.

Day angler Richard White had one of the stockies at 16lb 2oz from the small bay last weekend, a fish that has shown impressive weight gain since its introduction two years ago at 7lb 2oz. Andrew Dann continues to catch on day-only stalking sessions and his latest capture was a carp from the second stocking, that again has shown a very good weight gain. Other members that are catching well are Adam Gardner and Oliver Holden who have managed to winkle out one or two in that last month, mainly fishing overnight sessions before departing for work!

Full member Lewis Fisher recently did a quick overnight stint in the Car Park Bay area and was rewarded with six takes. Lewis managed to bank four of the fish and then had to leave for work at 6.30am after a rather hectic night.

It’s almost time for Syndicate members to renew their season permits, so if you haven’t already done so…payment needs to reach me by 18th May 2015. The new ticket starts again on the 1st June and we will have one or two new members joining us again this year, so please, existing members please make them feel welcome. Don’t forget that we are holding the Adam Penning slide show night on Friday 17th July at the Innings Social Club in Worksop, details are on the main front page of the website and tickets are available now from either myself or Nigel Brazier.

Adam is with us all weekend and will be at the lake from Friday lunch time until Sunday lunchtime to offer advise and answer any angling related questions you might have. If you are intending to bivvy up for the weekend, you need to book in with me so that you have a swim allocated. Saturday night the 18th will be the annual barbeque night.

Just a small note regarding rubbish. In last two weeks I have removed two carrier bags of angler’s rubbish, which has been left by syndicate members who have fished over-night sessions. Please if you are fishing overnight sessions, take your rubbish home with you, don’t leave it in the car park by the bin!!!

Have a good month
